About this guide

Northeast India Guide is an independent travel and information guide to the eight states of India's North-East. It exists to answer, in one place and told straight, the questions a first-time visitor actually has — which permits, when to go, how to get around, what to see, and what it costs.

How we work

Every page is written to be useful first. We don't sell packages on the guide pages, we don't rank operators by who pays us, and we date what we can so you know how fresh it is. Where a rule can change — permits, road status, festival dates — we say so and point you to the official source.

A note on accuracy

The Northeast changes fast: permit rules, airport and road status, and festival dates all move. We keep this guide current as of September 2026, but always reconfirm the specifics — especially permits and mountain-road conditions — on official portals before you travel.
